5.8 The ECOLOGICAL FOOTPRINT
The conscept of our Ecological Footprint has to be evident in many aspects of the displays. The literal footprint of bottom trawling and other destructive practices in marine harvest can be displayed. The same with unsustainable examples of aquaculture, that can be contrasted with sustainable ones. Some graphic depictions of the ecological footprint of a different choice of marine food for menues.
The work of Dr.Bill Reese could be profiled here.
Have a liasion with Ferries
Establish reference viewpoints that passengers are encouraged to observe so that when they go to the aquarium, they have already observed an important habitat that they go through and what is underwater where ferries run. A way of calculating the ecological footprint of different forms of transportation including the ferry passenger would be useful.
When people get off the ferry, they should know where the Marine Centre is located and their interest should be piqued enough so that they want to include it on their itinerary.
aside:(Please don't advertise on the IR billboards on Pat Bay.. as that would be counter to Ecological Sensitivity)

5.9 Marine Industry and Resources of the Area.
This topic is profiled here because it is a significant part of human interaction. It has been referred to in other sections but a good case could be made for including a section of the Marine Centre that highlights marine industry that has a positive environmenta impact on the BC Coast. More work on the examples would have to be done here.
