anthropogenic impact INNER BEECHER BAY LOG BOOMING AND DOCKS
anthropogenic impact
log boom
This bay is located on the inner northeast corner of Beecher Bay. Log booms contribute to a build up of wood waste on the seabed. Where booms are regularly stored, the bottom is sterile. A black ooze in which only anaerobic bacteria can live covers the bottom.

People make such a fuss about aquaculture net pens having a load of organics underneath the pens, but somehow log booms escape this criticism.

Location for log booms and vessel storage are regulated by foreshore leases. These are administered by the provincial government.
